TE3C to host panel discussion on Electronic Communications Compliance at AIIM On Demand

May 11, 2005 – The Electronic Communications Compliance Council (TE3C) will be hosting a panel discussion at the AIIM on Demand Conference & Expo on May 18th at the Pennsylvania Convention Centre in Philadelphia.

The TE3C panel discussion, called “Point/Counterpoint: Should Electronic Communications Compliance be User-Controlled or Fully Automated?”, will feature members including: Priscilla Emery, President, e-Nterprise Advisors; Peter Maftieu, President and Founder, PM Consulting, and Paul Chen, President & CEO, Fortiva, Inc.

"Businesses can no longer afford to ignore the issues around e-communications, including compliance, e-policy, and archiving," said Priscilla Emery, president and founder of e-Nterprise Advisors. "TE3C will serve as the voice and educational resource for electronic communications compliance issues. Together, we will develop cross-industry positions on issues relevant to privacy, policy, records management, legal issues, IT and e-discovery. "

At the roundtable, TE3C also announced a limited-time free offer of Policy Builder by Fortiva™, an online tool that offers a comprehensive template solution from which businesses can create their own customized e-mail policy. The tool was developed by Fortiva Inc., a provider of hosted message archiving and compliance solutions, and a founding member of TE3C. Policy Builder is available on the council’s Web site, www.TE3C.org.

Please join members of the TE3C to learn about:

  • The difference between electronic communications policies and records management policies and how these different approaches can complement one another
  • The issues associated with using personal e-mail accounts in the workplace from an employer versus employee perspective.
  • What kinds of approaches can be realistically taken to monitor and control adherence to electronic communications policies, and then be able to delineate between user intervention and automated intervention when managing electronic communications compliance.

The panel will also discuss real-life issues associated with the management and retention of e-mails and instant messages after the policy has been created and touch on both the human and technical issues involved.
