Welcome to The Electronic Communications Compliance Council (TE3C) web site.

This Council was founded by a diverse group of experts that recognized the need to address the evolving issues and challenges associated with using electronic communications in business processes in a highly regulated and litigious environment. The current outlook for increasing use of e-mail, instant messaging and text messaging says that these issues will not just go away, but will become increasingly complex.

We hope that TE3C, through its events and Web site, will provide a valuable resource to help educate and inform users about the electronic communications compliance life cycle, providing guidance on how to minimize risk in an evolving regulatory and legal environment, and offering a conduit of communication between all stakeholders in the electronic communications compliance community.

Even more importantly, we are confident this Council will help provide a dialogue between all the different communities that need to work together to make effective communications compliance happen – technologists, regulators, legal professionals, records managers and compliance officers – so that each group understands how to more effectively achieve their mutual objectives.

The breadth of experience that one finds on the Council’s founding Board of Directors will help to shape the direction of the research and education efforts that the Council will undertake in the next months and years. This experience covers e-policy development, records and e-mail management, understanding of legal precedence, regulatory compliance experience with the SEC and technology implementation specific to messaging compliance.

Although the Council and the information on this site are in their formative stages, we expect to be a significant resource to those seeking more information and guidance on messaging compliance. I urge you to visit this site periodically to keep up to date on the Council’s progress and to stay informed about the issues associated with Electronic Communications Compliance. I expect that in the future you should find more answers here than questions and I look forward to your support and involvement as we grow as a community.
